MSTR Scar Therapy After Childbirth
A Cesarean scar occurs when a woman delivers a baby through a C-section or a Cesarean section. Incidentally, a Cesarean section is a big surgery that can cause major scarring. Before we cover the details of scar treatment, let us try to understand the types of Cesarean scars.
Types of Cesarean scars
A surgeon may do two kinds of incisions during the C-section – horizontal and vertical. Both these incisions may lead to scars, and yet the scar does not look the same based on its direction.
As compared to horizontal cuts, vertical cuts are most widely made in emergency Cesarean sections as they are quicker. In case a baby has a health emergency, the surgeon has to complete the procedure more quickly using a vertical cut. At the same time, such an incision takes more time to heal and is also more painful.
However, horizontal incisions are more widely used when the C-sections are more planned. Such incisions are typically low on the torso and just above the pubic area. Most moms are fonder of horizontal incisions as they can be hidden more easily. These scars also heal faster and the pain is less compared to vertical incisions.
